Mat Pilates is taught in Gopika's lessons. Although both Yoga and Pilates are low-impact activities, there are several key differences between the two. You typically adopt a position during a yoga session and hold it, or you transition into another pose. When practicing Pilates, you strike a stance before using your arms or legs to focus on your core. Gopika emphasizes on little motions that call on the back and core stabilizing muscles. Each exercise is meant to be started with a regulated breath that causes the core muscles to contract. Gopika will guide you through a sequence of yoga positions, sometimes referred to as postures or asanas, which help to improve balance, flexibility, and strength. Most lessons end with a brief moment of meditation. During this time of isolation and reflection, you will be able to calm your thoughts and feel rejuvenated after the session.
Yes! Gopika is available for personal training in one-on-one sessions in Mat Pilates and Yoga for clients living in the western suburbs of Mumbai. She is also available for online training to clients in Pilates as well as yoga.
